What EXCON, the construction festival of India, highlights about the construction equipment market

EXCON, the bi-annual trade fair, is a prominent event in the calendar for those in the construction industry, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

This year, following the opening of our facility in Pune, India, Ajay Kumar, Plant Head and Pranay Kollipara, Head of Growth attended the show, which was held between 9-13 December, BIEC, Bengaluru.

Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) it is South Asia’s largest construction show. And with India championing infrastructure as a key part in it meeting targets to be a $30 trillion economy by 2047, the construction equipment industry has a real opportunity to be a driver of change and growth.

Of the 1,250 exhibitors, 100,000 business visitors, countless demos and delegations what stood out across the show’s 80 acres, was growth, sustainability and innovation.

A growing market for machinery decals

Witnessed across those the team spoke to at EXCON was a really strong appetite for Made-In-India and Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), a policy framework introduced by the Government of India to make the country economically independent, boost domestic production, foster local industries, and reduce import reliance. All of which Gate 7 is proudly able to support with our Indian plant that is able to produce high-quality machinery decals and printed components. By utilising advanced manufacturing technologies and adhering to stringent quality control, we’re able to reduce lead times whilst meeting the demands of both local and international markets.

And increasingly, to shore up supply chains, OEMs are consolidating supplier bases and favouring globally aligned partners such as us. As we can act as a single global partner, delivering excellence, for OEMs operating across India, Europe, and North America.

Innovative approaches to plant machinery stickers

The growing construction equipment market in India is demanding more from its machines that are required to operate for longer to meet demand for projects and maximise ROI. Often operating in harsh infrastructure and mining environments OEMs are looking more to innovation to support their operations, a part of which is an increasing demand for long-life, fade resistant plant machinery stickers. Like that of our SEV series, which was specifically developed for high-performance industrial applications. And at our India facility we’re able to print faster, to a superior print quality across a range of rigid materials with India’s first Mimaki JFX-600 flatbed printer.

Sustainable decals for the construction market

Whilst decals may have a smaller impact on sustainability compared to that of selecting more sustainable building materials for example, they still have a part to play. Moreover, OEMs are looking to all aspects in a move to reduced overall environmental footprints. And therefore, sustainability is gaining traction through material optimisation and waste reduction. For instance, using recyclable vinyls, that can be processed into new products as well as using biodegradable materials and water-based inks, that have a lower environmental impact than traditional solvent-based inks. And longevity of decals is again also important in a drive towards sustainability.

Ultimately, Gate 7 India is uniquely positioned to support the evolving needs of construction equipment OEMs by combining our local manufacturing capability in India with the global quality, materials expertise, and engineering standards of the Group. Our state-of-the-art facility in Pune, enables faster sample turnaround, responsive engineering support, and reliable local supply – while ensuring full alignment with global branding, durability, and compliance requirements. All whilst enabling OEMs to localise production without compromising on performance, consistency, or brand integrity.
